Introduction to TESOL Course a co-curricular course for sixth-form students
This is a course we offer to Sixth-Forms as part of their wider co-curricular programme for Year 12 and 13 students. We’re aware that an important part of school life is to take a balanced approach to academic and life skills and that opportunities for individual growth need to go beyond the classroom.
We have run successful Introduction to TESOL course at Sherborne School for Girls and Canford School as part of their enrichment and enterprise programme for a number of years now.
The course is very practical in nature and equips the students with real world skills, which may be beneficial to many on a gap year, or to support them through university and beyond. The course looks to develop such skills as classroom management, evaluating and planning, teaching young learners and creative materials design.
Students who study languages have also found that having to analyse English for teaching purposes has enhanced their understanding of their own language studies.
Each course is tailored to suit individual requirements and can include one or more trips to ITTC to conduct teaching practice with second language speakers of English.
`I thought the course was great and always looked forward to our sessions. I learnt a lot and thought it was really well organised and informative’
