Here at ITTC, we pride ourselves on our international reputation for providing the highest quality English language teacher training courses, and are committed to helping you get the most from your experience.
From the beginning in 1984, ITTC has been involved in the development and piloting of the University of Cambridge teaching qualifications, such as the CELTA and Delta. Since then, we have increased our range of courses, including TKT, ICELT and CLIL, both in the UK and around the world, in countries as diverse as Turkey, Russia and Libya, with thousands of trainees from over 60 countries having passed through our door.
In 2001, ITTC became part of BEET Language Centre, a family-run independent school, accredited by the British Council and a member of English UK, Quality English, IALC and The English Network. In 2012, BEET and ITTC achieved Grade 1 in all categories of the ISI inspection, with teaching described as “Outstanding”.
In 2011, we moved to Alpha Lodge, a specialised teacher training centre in Winton, a short ride or walk to the centre of Bournemouth. However, we continue to work closely with BEET, ensuring that both our teacher trainers and trainees have a close relationship with a thriving language school.
ITTC is based in a large Victorian building, on a thriving high street just a short ride or walk from Bournemouth town centre and beaches. Its eight classrooms contain the latest teaching equipment, including multimedia and interactive whiteboards, with wireless internet throughout the building. Outside, there is a typical English garden and spacious patio area to relax in at break times with your coursemates.
The library at ITTC is extremely comprehensive. In addition to all the titles in the University of Cambridge CELTA, ICELT and Delta recommended booklists, we hold an extensive range of volumes in applied linguistics and associated areas related to English language teaching. ITTC subscribes to all the major ELT journals, both in print and electronic form.
The trainees’ study centre is equipped with networked computers and printer, with internet and access to ITTC’s online magazines on English language and teaching materials. The computers have access to the various documents relevant to your course, as well as the latest online journals for your research.
As well as a small kitchen where you can make drinks and reheat lunches, there is plenty of space to relax in the students’ lounge or outside in the spacious garden and patio areas. The Centre is also very conveniently located for shops, supermarkets, cafes and bars, all just a minute or two’s walk away.
